River Indus has deposited the floodplain alluvium over a greater length of time to a depth of some 20,000 ft. On average the river has raised the level of the floodplain about 25 ft in 5000 years, which means a deposition of 6 inches in every 1000 years.

The detailed report on the rehabilitation of Thatta–II Surface Drainage System was prepared by the General Manager (R&D) SIDA. This report is available in the Research and Development Section of SIDA, Hyderabad
