REPORTS BASED ON OPERATIONAL ESEARCH   3: FLOOD PROTECTION WORKS IN UPPER NARA CANAL JUNE, 2003

The World Bank Team including International and Local Panel of Experts visited Sindh Province from 22 nd to 30 th September, 2004 . The main purpose of the visit was to;

Review the pre-fisibility report of DMP (prepared by AWASRI)

• Carry out detailed planning exercise using integrated approach for analysis and participatory planning;
• Provide hand-on training to those involved in the planning task (i-e IWASRI and WAPDA Team) that help in finalizing the master planning for the rest of Indus Basin following and integrated approach.

Kotri Drainage Basin (Left Bank Area) was selected for the above mentioned detailed planning exercise. International Panel of Experts (IPOE) reviewed the pre-fesibility Report of Drainage Master Plan, prepared by AWASRI, met with the stakeholders and government officials and imparted training to Drainage Engineers which would help in preparing further reports on individual drainage basin. This report covers the activities of World Bank Team during a very hectic schedule. SIDA had take the lead role I making the necessary arrangements, however, the concerned departments including DP Coordination Cell, Irrigation and Power Department, District Government of Badin, Thatta and Hyderabad, Planning ad Development Department extended their maximum support I making the visit a success where stakeholders fully participated.
