IDMT Agreement Ceremony @ Matli

An Irrigation and Drainage Management Transfer (IDMT) Agreement Signing Ceremony of 16 Farmers Organizations (FOs) of Left Bank Canal Area Water Board (LBCAWB) was held at Matli on 12/04/2008 . Mr. Muhammed Hashim Laghari was the chief guest of the occasion At the start of IDMT signing ceremony, FO representatives presented traditional gift of Sindhi Topi (Caps) and Ajrak to the honorable guests and speakers. Mr. Ayaz Khwaja Field Team Incharge SMG-SDC SIDA welcomed the participants and Mr. Mustafa Ujjan explained the objectives of the IDMT and role of FOs after signing the agreement.

Mr . Mohammad Hashim Leghari Managing Director SIDA, Jam Mitha Khan Director LBCAWB, Mr. Nazeer A. Memon SDS/DGMT, Mr. Nawaz Memon Member LBCAWB, Mr. Khadim Memon Team Leader PIAC, Mr. Zafar Ali Shah Chairman FOC LBCAWB and Mr. Mustafa Ujjan GL SMG participated in the ceremony.

More than 200 farmers, women farmers, CSO representatives, journalists, etc. participated in the ceremony. Mr. Nawaz Memon, Mr. Zafar Ali Shah, Mr. Allah Dino Samoon Chairman FO Kario Wah, etc. did speeches on behalf of farmers and appreciated the implementation of irrigation reforms in the command of province and AWB. Ms. Shaheen Khan Gende Specialist PIAC, Ms. Shakeela Leghari, Mr. Khadim Ali Memon, Mr. Nazeer Ahmed Memon and Jam Mitha Khan also did their speeches. Mr. Mohammad Hashim Leghari in his speech highlighted the success of irrigation reforms in the province in SIDA's supervision. He also assured the farmers that problems would be solved with the coordination of SIDA, AWBs and FOs. At the end MD SIDA handed over IDMT agreements to representatives of 16 FOs of LBCAWB. In last Mr. Masroor Ahmed Shahwani, Coordinator SDC SIDA thanked to all participants specially to Managing Director SIDA to provide support in organizing of such mega event in LBCAWB. More than 100 representatives of FO attended the ceremony.
