FLOOD EMERGENCY CELL

Introduction:

Sindh province is facing history's biggest flood that is heavily affecting the villages and cities and entire life of the people. Due to heavy rains in Sindh province; whole Province is being affected from such flood and is in the state of emergency.

SIDA has established Flood Information Cell in SIDA Secretariat Hyderabad to monitor day to day flow of the water. The information cell is fully functional and being run under the Coordinator FIC. The cell is also equipped with toll free number 0800-12301 through which day to day information is being disseminated to local community who enquires the flood position. The Flood Information Cell works from morning to midnight and is being activated round the clock. Due to emergency situation the SIDA / AWB staff is available in offices during Government Holidays. All SIDA officials are deputed in offices and performing their duties day night shift basis.

The flood situation is day by day going to be alarming, the SIDA management has decided to properly document the whole scenario for future record and lesson learning. In addition to this continuous media coordination with media and press briefings, statements are being documented through Media & Communication Cell SIDA on daily basis and also correct information is being disseminated followed by rebuttal, if something wrong appears in media.
